It's been a fun 3 years...

I'm following suit, Mike. Dan, you were right.
I've attempted (albeit lamely) to continue this blog but it's just not worth the effort anymore. I've tried to care enough to post once in a while...it's just not working for me.

I may revive this blog if/when the spirit moves me. Until such a time I'll continue to lurk and comment.
With this, I too remove my hand from the bucket.

Please observe a moment of silence

...for Mike and Nina's blog. I just figured it out now. He killed it! It truly is a sad day in the blogosphere with earth shattering implications. Thanks for the memories guys! Hope it comes back some day.

iPhone Almighty

I had a chance to win an iPhone at the SES2007. Alas it wasn't meant to be (sounds about right with my luck). Then again I probably wouldn't have been able to put it to full use anyway so it was better that someone else got it. Besides I like sound of the new iPod (basically an iPhone without the phone). Here's a parody of the unveiling of the iPhone that I thought was damn hillarious:

My Corner of Google Dance 2007

Last night, after the seminar had ended for the day, Google held an event at the Googleplex (get it googolplex...Google...whew...). It was, in all pretty overwhelming. It was, as put by someone I overheard, like college plus cool lights, and tons of food. We got to schmooze with the future cream of the Search Engine crop (and they weren't ALL geeks. Just most of them.)
The Googleplex in itself was pretty amazing. A huge piece of property strewn with buildings with beautiful architecture, dinosaur skeletons, immaculately trimmed lawns, Beach volleyball courts... The buildings contain living quarters, labs, cafeteria, gym, (of course) offices, etc. It's pretty much a self-contained society. It's simply amazing. You gotta see it to believe it. It's HUGE! We should make the new place like that. Call it the Actiplex...or something.
We spent the night wandering around the Google property and drifting in and out of the G-Club (Google Night Club) drinking Sierra Nevada all evening long.
Oh! Did I mention it was all on the house?

Still...as interesting and fun as it was, I'd trade it all just to be home. You know that feeling you get when you've had so much pumped into you (yes you can get out of the gutter now...) that you feel drained...or maybe it's the feeling of being shell shocked. Or more like how I feel after listening to a full rap album all the way through on full blast. (no offense to rappers, or their listeners. It's just not my preference you see.) So you'll have to excuse the dazed expression you'll see on my face when I get home.

Thanks guys so much for holding things down (or up) while we've been away. I really appreciate everything you did in the past week to stretch and accommodate our attending this training program. I pray that what I've been able to learn will yield the results they're meant to. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again. Soon, people, soon.

P.S. Timna, thanks for letting me go and for the extra strain of not getting breaks from Katie. I really appreciate and admire you and I'm glad/proud to have you as my wife and to be the mother of my baby.

P.P.S. Guess who's getting lucky tomorrow night? Sexy time.

SES 2007 San Jose

So, I'm off in San Jose for the Search Engine Strategy Seminar 2007. Pretty interesting stuff. Mucho learning going on. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Danny Sullivan, Matt Cutts and other people I've never heard of before falling into the deep geek pool that is Search Engine Strategy. Alot of these experts are real entertaining talkers too. As much fun as this is, I really want to be home. I miss you guys!

(Edit: for what it's worth I met and shook hands with Bruce Clay)

Ikea is the devil

Once they get you into one of their stores it's all over. They've got you by the balls. You'll be stuck in there for hours getting the life sucked out of you choice by painstaking choice. Then it spits you out the exit totally drained and exhausted. Beware passers by. Here be dragons.
